Purpose: The Materials section is used to assign facade material types to different areas of the elevation. These materials define the visual appearance of the building and are later used for panel generation, pricing, and estimation. By clearly defining material zones, you ensure that the panelized solution reflects the intended architectural design and correct material distribution.
Create Material (1): The Create Material function allows to create a new material and add it to the Materials list. Each project includes a default material, and additional materials can be created as needed to represent different facade zones. Newly created materials can then be applied to the elevation using material lines.
When editing materials, it is possible to:
- Assign material - Applies the selected material to a defined area on the elevation using the Stamp tool.
- Rename - Allows to change the material name for better identification and organization.
- Delete - Removes the material from the project and clears it from the Materials list.
Horizontal (2): The Horizontal is used to define horizontal material lines on the elevation. These lines help separate and apply different materials across horizontal sections of the facade.
Vertical (3): The Vertical is used to define vertical material lines on the elevation. These lines allow to separate and apply different materials across vertical sections of the facade, helping control how materials are distributed and segmented.
Select (4): The Select tool allows to pan the selected elevation and move existing material areas. Use it to adjust or reposition materials on the elevation without creating new material zones.
Sub-menu (5): This sub-menu opens additional management actions for the selected elevation. From this menu, it is possible to:
Rename - Change the elevation’s label.
Duplicate - Create a copy of the elevation, including its settings.
Delete - Remove the elevation from the project.
These options helps to organize and manage elevation views while assigning materials.
Update Panelization (6): Applies all material assignments to the model. This step ensures materials are correctly considered in panel generation, pricing, and estimation.
Note: Materials can be deleted at any time if they are no longer required. This flexibility allows to manage multiple facade materials efficiently while ensuring accurate panelization, pricing, and estimation downstream.
Create Material - Step-by-Step
- Click Create Material (7) and assign a custom name to the material.
- Choose how to define the material boundary:
- Click Horizontal Material Line (8) or
- Click Vertical Material Line (9)
- Move the mouse to the desired position on the elevation and left‑click once to place the material line.
- An orange guide line (10) appears to help position the boundary accurately.
- Click the Stamp tool (11).
- Move the mouse to the desired area, then left‑click anywhere inside that area to assign the material.
- The selected zone will take the material color (12), confirming it has been applied.
- Use the sub‑menu (13) next to each material to manage it:
- Assign material - applies the selected material to an area.
- Rename - changes the material name.
- Delete - removes the material.
- Click Update panelization (14) to apply and save all material changes to the facade.
