Ensure that you are in the Panel Design environment.
To use the brick layout tool, the walls must have brick applied. We will apply brick to one super panel and alter the layout.
Select View>Elevations>Right Elevation or select the Right Elevation option from the Elevation icon.
Select a wall line and then right click and select Isolate Superpanel.
Select Regions>Insert Finish Package.
In the Catalog Panel to the right, select The StoCast Brick (Westland)-Common Bond.
Left click on a Superpanel line to apply the finish package.
The brick pattern will be applied.
Select Panels>Adjust Brick Pattern.
Left click on the Superpanel to select it.
The panel will then be surrounded by thick blue lines and thin, red pin lines. The blue lines represent the brick wall areas broken into sections between openings horizontally and vertically. The pin lines represent the border edges of openings and the overall edge of the panel. You can adjust the brick patterns and how they border along an opening.
Select the 2nd blue horizontal line in the upper left corner as indicated in the preceding illustration. It will turn green and the properties of that column area of brick will appear in the Properties pane on the right.
There are three Adjustment Options. You can either make no adjustments or adjust the width of the brick or the thickness of the mortar.
Select Adjust brick widths.
The number of brick courses will be automatically set to the height of the wall, however you can select Custom to set the number.
Since we are adjusting the brick width, an important setting with is The minimum brick width. Default setting is 30mm. Set it to 45mm.
Set the Brick Width Adjustment to Minimum number of adjustments.
As you make the adjustments you will see the elevation update. You can keep making adjustments using the properties to meet the desired layout.
As illustrated in the following diagram, select the top left blue line that runs down the vertical edge of the wall and represents the top horizontal section of wall.
Change the Adjustment options to Adjust mortar joints
Change the Mortar Joints Adjustment to Minimum number of adjustments.
The model adjusts accordingly.
Select the border pin line to the left of the first window, as indicated in the previous illustration. It runs vertically down the exact edge of the openings.
Borders that run down the vertical edge of openings have four Mortar Joint Placement options.
- Ignore – it disregards mortar changes along an opening.
- Left – brick and mortar joint shifts to the left so the right side of the mortar joint ends at the edge of the opening.
- Right – brick and mortar joint shifts to the right so the left edge of the brick is flush with the opening.
- Center – mortar joint is centered between the edge of the opening and the edge of the last brick.
Select the border pin line along the top edge of the upper windows, as illustrated in the following diagram.
There are 4 Mortar Joint Placement options for the upper border edge of an opening.
- Ignore – it disregards mortar changes along an opening.
- Above – the bottom edge of the mortar joint rests on the opening.
- Center – the mortar joint is centered along the border edge of the opening and the last brick.
- Below – the bottom edge of the last brick moves down to sit on the top of the opening.
Adjust the horizontal and vertical sections of brick and the edges of openings to customize the brick and mortar layout to suit each individual panel in a project.
