Modeling
There are three different ways to begin a project.
- Start drawing the project from scratch.
- Import a PDF to trace to begin the project.
- Import an IFC file to use as the basis for the project.
Start a Model from Scratch
We will create an exterior shell of a building that we will use in later lessons to break into panels.
- Look at the View Control toolbar and ensure the current location is the Ground Floor.
- Make sure that Ortho is enabled on the status bar. This constrains walls to 90 degrees.
- Select Insert>Walls>Insert by Baseline.
- In the Catalog Panel on the right, select the StoPanel Classic NExT ci wall.
- Move the cursor into the drawing area, then click a point near the lower left quadrant of the drawing area.
- Without dragging, move the cursor to the right (0 degrees), and type 6000. Hit Enter.
- Pull the cursor downwards (270 degrees) and type 3000. Hit Enter.
- Pull the cursor to the right (0 degrees) and type 12000. Hit Enter.
- Pull the cursor to the top of the screen (90 degrees) and type 12000. Hit Enter.
- Pull the cursor to the left (180 degrees) and type 18000. Hit Enter.
- Right-click and select Finish.
- In the Walls by Baseline dialog box, you define what the dimensions are relative to
- the exterior outer surface veneer
- the wall’s structural face
- the inside face of the wall
- Select Outer Face of Veneer and click OK.
The exterior shell of the building is formed.
