You’re ready to start your first project once you’ve familiarized yourself with the STO Panel Designer environment.
BUILDING LOCATIONS
When you insert an element in your drawing, it is inserted on the current building location. It is essential to define your building locations before inserting elements.
- Select Settings > Building Locations.
- You can edit the settings for the existing locations and create new ones. You can have up to 999 floor levels. When you define building locations, you are doing two things:
- Setting the wall height for each floor in your model
- Specifying where each floor is positioned relative to grade or another building location
- Click OK to accept the default settings.
TIP: The current Building Location will be displayed in the lower left of the project screen. You can easily change locations by toggling a new location.
UNIT OF MEASURE
Before you start drawing, you need to make sure you’re using the correct unit of measure for your project and select a level of precision for your measurements.
- Select Settings > Document Settings.
- Select Units of Measure in the left pane in the Document Settings dialog.
- You can select either Imperial or Metric measurement units.
- Click the Precision drop box below the Units drop box and see the different levels of precision you can set for a project.
GRID SNAP
Let’s define a new grid snap spacing.
In the Document Settings dialog, select Drawing Aids in the left pane.
- You can enable or disable the Grid Snap (F4) check box and the Custom Spacing radio button below.
- If you use custom spacing, highlight the value in the X edit box and then type the custom value. Do the same in the Y edit box. This defines the grid snap spacing.
- Click OK. You are ready to draw!
