When inserting elements, as a default, it is always by the centerline of the object.
To accurately insert exterior walls given outside or inside edge dimensions, use the Insert by Baseline insertion method.
- Select Insert > Walls > Walls
- Move the cursor onto the drawing screen.
- Right-click and select Insert by Baseline.
- Left-click to pick a start point of the first wall on the screen.
- Type the exact distance and direction of the first wall in the commander and hit Enter
- The walls are drawn as a single-line polygon outline of your exterior wall layout, like an elastic stretched around nail heads at each corner to form the entire exterior wall layout in a single line.
- Continue inserting each wall.
- When finished with the outline, right-click and select Finish.
In the dialog box that appears, indicate that the line drawn represents the outside edge of the exterior finish, the outside edge of the stud or block wall, or the inside face of the stud or block wall. If the dimensions are to a different finish, use an offset towards the outside or inside. Click OK.
The line is replaced with walls, drawn to the exact dimensions specified.
